Best Buy Acquires Care-At-Home Platform Current Health
On Tuesday, the retail giant Best Buy announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire the home care and remote monitoring platform Current Health in an effort “to help make home the center of health,” according to the company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Like other major retail companies, such as Amazon and Walmart, Richfield, Minnesota-based Best Buy has been steadily increasing its interest in both health care and home care over the last few years. Addus HomeCare Corporation (NASDAQ: ADUS), a provider of home care services based in Frisco, TX, announced that it has completed the acquisition of in-home health care agency Summit Home Health, LLC, effective October 1, 2021. The transaction was funded by Addus with cash on hand. Headquartered in Bolingbrook, IL, Summit has been providing in-home health care to patients across the greater Chicago area since 2009. Two leading investment firms, Apax Partners and Oak HC/FT, have joined forces to purchase the treatment provider Eating Recovery Center (ERC). The two companies acquired Denver-based ERC from CCMP Capital, a global private equity firm headquartered in New York, New York, for a reported $1.4 billion.
