HCA-Operated Surgery Ventures Acquires 2 ASCs in North Texas

Surgery Ventures, operated by Nashville, Tennessee-based HCA Healthcare, has acquired majority stakes in two ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in North Texas and will manage day-to-day operations at both facilities. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.  Both of the ASCs are affiliated with Dallas-based Medical City Healthcare, which is now affiliated with 15 ASCs in North Texas. The first ASC being acquired is Medical City Surgery Center of North Texas in Anna, Texas, formerly known as Surgery Center of North Texas, which has 14 physician partners. HCA Healthcare Inc (NYSE: HCA), a for-profit healthcare provider based in Nashville, Tennessee, reported $4.93 earnings per share for the quarter, beating the consensus estimate of $3.99 by a whopping $0.94. This increase is largely due to HCA Healthcare’s revenue growth, which was up 4.3% on a year over year basis from $14.9 billion in Q1:22 to $15.6 billion in Q1:23. The healthcare provider’s expenses rose from the first quarter of 2022, reaching $13.67 billion. The for-profit health system HCA Healthcare is downsizing, selling four hospitals in a deal valued at $950 million. The buyer is Piedmont Healthcare, a not-for-profit hospital system based in Atlanta, Georgia.  The four hospitals are Eastside Medical Center (310 beds, Snellville), Cartersville Medical Center (119 beds, Cartersville), and Coliseum Health System, which includes two acute care hospitals (310-bed Coliseum Medical Centers and 103-bed Coliseum Northside). Coliseum Health System also houses the Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health, a 40-bed inpatient behavioral health facility in Macon, which was included in the deal. ... Brookdale Divests Home Health & Hospice Business

After months of rumors swirling about a deal, Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD) has announced the divestment of a majority stake in its home health and hospice business, Brookdale Health Care Services. The senior living giant is selling an 80% interest in its home health and hospice business (including its outpatient therapy business) to HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA), the Tennessee-based health system.  The sales price is $400 million, implying a $500 million valuation for 100% interest. HCA Healthcare Adds Meadows Regional Medical Center

The Hospital market is off to a strong start in 2021, with seven deals on the books in January. The health system giant, HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA), just announced the largest deal in the sector by price. HCA purchased Meadows Regional Medical Center, a 52-bed community hospital in Vidalia, Georgia from Meadow Health Alliance, Inc. for $73 million. A letter of intent was filed in September 2019, and the Toombs County Hospital Authority and Meadow Health Alliance have approved the sale.  Meadow Health Alliance generated $153.6 million in revenue in 2019 and estimated $9.63 million EBITDA.
