Kaiser Permanente Acquires Geisinger Health, Launching Risant Health
Kaiser Permanente announced on April 26 that it was acquiring Geisinger Health, which will join Risant Health, a new nonprofit organization created by the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. Geisinger Health comprises 10 hospitals, as well as a health plan with more than half a million members. The Danville, Pennsylvania-based health system has 25,000 employees and more than 1,700 physicians. Kaiser Permanente is among the country’s largest nonprofit systems with 39 hospitals. UNC Health Southeastern Sells Home-Based Hospice Program to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare
Lumberton, North Carolina-based hospital UNC Health Southeastern (UNC) will transfer ownership of its community-based hospice operations to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, effective May 1, 2023. The hospital is located in Robeson County, North Carolina and will continue to offer inpatient services. Lower Cape Fear LifeCare will assist UNC by providing palliative care consultations within the hospital. Sonic Healthcare Acquires Medical Laboratories Duesseldorf For $198 Million
Sonic Healthcare, Ltd. announced on April 26 that it made its second acquisition of the month by purchasing Medical Laboratories Duesseldorf (MLD) for approximately $199 million USD (converted from €180 million and AUD$297.6 million). The acquisition is expected to bring in revenues of more than $55.2 million in FY2024. This follows Sonic’s previous acquisition of German diagnostic company Diagnosticum for $209 million, marking the largest purchase price in the Laboratories, MRI and Dialysis sector of the year. Stonemont Financial Group Acquires Two Oncology Centers
Stonemont Financial Group announced it closed on the acquisition of two oncology centers in Greensboro and Hawkinsville, Georgia. Stonemont has plans to implement a capital improvement plan on the exterior of the buildings, which will increase the longevity of the properties for the tenant. Work will be completed within the next year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
