Following increased deal volume in 2021, private equity has maintained a high deal volume throughout 2022, as well. Through the second week of October this year, private equity firms or their portfolio companies have announced 776 transactions. That equates to 40% of the deals announced in the entire year across all healthcare sectors. From January 1, 2021, through the second week of October 2021, private equity groups were responsible for 637 deals, or 38% of the 1,669 deals announced by the point. ARC Health, a Thurston Group portfolio company, announced on October 17 that it acquired the Relationship Therapy Center, the most extensive couples therapy practice in the Midwest. The deal marks ARC Health’s third transaction since it was formed in 2021 in partnership with outpatient mental health provider Advanced Recovery Concepts. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Shore Capital Partners, a Chicago-based healthcare-focused lower middle-market private equity firm, announced on September 29 that it was selling EyeSouth Partners to Olympus Partners. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Gastro Health, a portfolio company of private equity firms OMERS Private Equity and Audax Private Equity, has finalized a partnership with Springfield Gastroenterology in Springfield, Ohio, marking Gastro Health’s fourth partnership in Ohio since October 2020 when it acquired Ohio Gastroenterology & Liver Institute. Exton, Pennsylvania-based US Digestive Health, a portfolio company of Amulet Capital Partners, acquired Delaware Center for Digestive Care (DCDC) in the company’s first partnership outside Pennsylvania.
