MultiCare Health System, a not-for-profit healthcare organization based in Washington, has acquired a new hospital in the state. The health system purchased Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, a 226-bed hospital in Yakima, Washington, which has a population of approximately 100,000. The hospital also owns primary care practices, a cancer care center called North Star Lodge, Ohana Mammography Center, a hospice and respite care agency called Cottage in the Meadow, a pain management center, the only level-3 NICU in central Washington and Children’s Village, which provides advanced services for children with special health care needs.
Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital generated $478.7 million in revenue in 2020 and $22.3 million in EBITDA.
MultiCare’s comprehensive health system includes numerous primary care, urgent care and specialty services — including MultiCare Indigo Health, Pulse Heart Institute and MultiCare Rockwood Clinic, the largest multispecialty clinic in the Inland Northwest region. The system has 11 hospitals throughout Washington.
The central Washington health system will become a part of MultiCare in early 2023, and its name will change to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital at that time. Under the terms of the agreement, MultiCare will invest in new programs, implement an integrated electronic health record, strengthen the hospital’s role as the leading healthcare hub in central Washington, and help provide a sustainable future for Yakima’s only hospital. The sale price was not disclosed.
