Retina Consultants of America (RCA), a comprehensive physician management services organization, announced that it had acquired Mississippi Retina Associates (MRA), adding the ophthalmology practice to its national portfolio. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

RCA is a comprehensive physician management services organization. Formed by Webster Equity Partners and based in Southlake, Texas, RCA partners with retina specialists to help grow their practice. It employs upwards of 1,600 people, 160 of the employees being physicians. RCA includes practices in California, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.

For more than 35 years, Mississippi Retina Associates, a four-physician practice, has treated patients and is the state’s largest retina practice. Its 10 clinic locations include Starkville, Hattiesburg, Jackson, and Greenville, and its physicians provide care for patients from Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Tennessee.

The addition of MRA strengthens and expands RCA’s presence in the southeastern United States. MRA and RCA will work together to improve the lives of their patients through cutting-edge technology and by providing the highest quality of retina care across the United States.

This deal marks RCA’s 19th acquisition since its inception in January 2020 and its tenth acquisition of 2021. Some deals included the acquisition of Retina Associates, P.A. of Kansas City in Kansas City and Carolina Retina Center of Columbia, South Carolina in March; The Retina Center of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and Texas-based Retinal Consultants of San Antonio in June; Tennessee Retina Nashville of Nashville, Tennessee and New York City-based Rockland Retina in September; and in October, Colorado Retina Associates in Lakewood, Colorado.
