U.S. Orthopedic Partners (USOP) has had a busy 2021 so far. Back in March, the PE-backed physician network acquired Jackson Anesthesia Pain Center and Oxford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, PLLC in Jackson and Oxford, Mississippi, respectively.  Both practices are well known in their regional markets for providing the most up-to-date orthopedic care, including both non-surgical and surgical options to treat a wide array of muscular-skeletal issues, including injury.

And now in July, it’s added four more practices. Earlier in the month, USOP partnered with Orthopedic Institute of North Mississippi (6 physicians), which provides sports medicine and comprehensive orthopedic treatments of foot, ankle, hand, wrist, elbow, hip, osteoarthritis, knee and shoulder injuries.

On July 21, USOP announced two acquisitions, one for North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic (7 physicians) and the other for Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center (21 physicians), which gave USOP a total of eight more locations. Andrews Sports Medicine provides orthopedic services to athletes throughout the Birmingham, Alabama metropolitan area.

North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic provides comprehensive musculoskeletal treatment, emergency coverage and diagnostics. The practice offers a variety of surgical and non-surgical treatments in sports medicine, physical rehabilitation, pediatrics, and other specialized services to patients across Northern Alabama, Southern Tennessee, and Northeastern Mississippi communities.

USOP has been rapidly expanding for a year now since it was formed in October 2020 through an investment from FFL Partners, a private equity firm focused on growth investments in middle-market companies. Thurston Group, a Chicago-based private equity firm specializing in healthcare deals, also backs USOP.
