The private equity-backed EyeSouth Partners is closing 2020 on a strong note. With the support of Shore Capital Partners, EyeSouth Partners added Eye Center of Texas (ECT), which employs 14 physicians across six primary clinical locations in the greater Houston area and provides an integrated service model incorporating the latest advancements in cataract surgery, retina management, glaucoma treatment, refractive surgery and routine eye exams.

EyeSouth Partners is an eye care services organization in the southeast. Its affiliate network consists of 114 doctors providing medical and surgical eye care services at approximately 70 locations, including 11 surgery centers, in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. The affiliation with ECT represents the practice’s third in the state of Texas and 20th affiliation overall.

Ophthalmology groups have been hot targets in 2020, and EyeSouth has been one of the more active buyers with five deals on the books, according to search results in our Healthcare Deal Database. Back in September, the group added Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates, which provides comprehensive vision care in areas such as diseases of the retina, cataract surgery, cornea and glaucoma treatment, as well as through a nationally recognized clinical research program. The practice has 14 providers and seven clinics.

In August, EyeSouth Partners acquired Retina Associates of Middle Georgia (RAMG) for an undisclosed sum. Based in Macon, Georgia, RAMG provides treatment for the retina, macula, and vitreous diseases at two clinics in the middle Georgia area. The practice has three physicians.

Earlier in the year, EyeSouth Partners added Mitchell Refractive Surgery & Eye Center (2 physicians) in Boca Raton, Florida and Coastal Eye Associates (4 physicians) in Alvin, Texas.
