BayMark Health Services announced a trio of deals last week alone, doubling its transaction count for 2020, based on results from Healthcare Deals Database. With the backing of private equity firm Webster Equity Partners, the nationwide behavioral health provider acquired three new providers across three states for an undisclosed sum.

For the first deal, BayMark Health acquired Portland, Maine- based Liberty Bay Recovery Center, a residential treatment facility (59 beds) that offers treatment for a variety of addictions including not only opioids but also alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and other substances. It provides multiple levels of care including residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment. Before this transaction, BayMark’s portfolio included only one residential treatment facility in Bala, Ontario, Greenestone Muskoka. 

Down in Louisiana, BayMark Health added Choices of Louisiana, which runs three opioid treatment programs, one in Alexandria and two in New Orleans. It provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction supported by substance use counseling.  Choices of Louisiana will continue to provide the same level of service under the BayMark brand BAART Programs which currently operate a location in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. BayMark now operates four outpatient opioid treatment clinics in the state in addition to eight outpatient office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) programs. 

And to round out the week, BayMark Health purchased Recovery Pathways, an office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) provider based in Washington, Pennsylvania, with three locations. The programs in Washington (two) and Monroeville (one) offer medication-assisted treatment using buprenorphine-based medications. 

Recovery Pathways’ three convenient locations provide comprehensive treatment to patients from western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. BayMark now operates or collaborates with eight outpatient OBOT locations in Pennsylvania as well as three MedMark Treatment Centers Opioid Treatment Programs (a subsidiary of BayMark Health) offering both methadone and buprenorphine-based products, located east of Pittsburgh.
