IBH Population Health Solutions, a pioneer in managed behavioral health, integrated employee assistance programs (EAP) and services, announced a new acquisition this week. With the backing of Periscope Equity, the company added Claremont EAP for an undisclosed price, an agency that helps connect employees at transportation agencies, municipalities, labor groups, high tech firms, education, retail, and more with licensed mental health counselors. IBH Population Health is one of the U.S.’s leading population health management companies, providing EAP, managed behavioral health, wellness, data analytics, and opioid assessment and treatment solutions.

The deal will significantly broaden IBH’s products and ranges of services for its clients. Plus, according to a report from IBISWorld, the EAP industry has a market size of roughly $3.8 billion and is expected to continue growing, especially as the effects of COVID-19 trigger an increase in workplace stress and anxiety. According to studies cited in an article from SHRM.org in November 2019, EAP utilization averages below 10%, and we expect that number to grow significantly over the course of the year. IBH and Periscope have good timing with this deal.

Claremont EAP also is a Knox-Keene Licensed plan, an additional benefit to help expand IBH’s services.

According to DSO, Periscope Equity acquired IBH Population Health (formerly called Integrated Behavioral Health) in May 2018, and this is the pair’s first acquisition together. IBH currently serves over 10 million members, representing 150,000 individual clients across the United States.
