Teladoc, Inc. (NYSE: TDOC) announced this week it will acquire MedecinDirect, an accredited mobile platform for the healthcare industry. MedecinDirect provides personalized medical advice and subscriptions to patients online and by telephone.

The deal will combine Teladoc’s virtual care services with MedecinDirect’s consultation and prescription digital health solutions. The organization will become the French country unit of Teladoc Health.

This acquisition adds to the growing list of purchases focused on telemedicine and virtual health. You might remember a few earlier this year. Medici bought Chiron Health in January for an undisclosed amount. Chiron provides secure remote video visits for doctors and patients.

Its Reimbursement Rules Engine provides doctors with payment estimates for consultations with 300 different healthcare plans, and it has a telemedicine platform for electronic medical records.  Medici determined that Chiron’s secure video messaging services will complement Medici’s secure mobile messaging platform.

A month later in mid-February Harris Computer Systems acquired Collain Healthcare, LLC, which offers virtual care solutions in areas such as telemedicine, video visits, and remote patient monitoring. That acquisition marked Harris Computer Systems’ entry into the long-term and post-acute care markets.
