Sheridan Moves into Phoenix Market

Sheridan just made its fifth announced acquisition of the year, buying Premier Emergency Medical Specialists, a 49-physician group in Phoenix, Arizona. Sheridan is the Physician Services division of AmSurg Corp. (NASDAQ: AMSG), the ambulatory surgery giant, which last year paid $2.35 billion for Sheridan, then a portfolio company of Hellman & Friedman. Health Care M&A in Q4:15

(NASDAQ: AMSG), acquired Coastal Anesthesiology Associates, PA in St. Augustine, Florida. These three transactions bring the total number of anesthesiology deals to 11, or 23% of the 47 PMG transactions we’ve recorded in this sector so far in 2015. Read More »

After a few quiet weeks with no announcements, the Physician Medical Group sector got busy. Sheridan Healthcare, a subsidiary of AmSurg Corp. (NASDAQ: AMSG), acquired Radiology Associates of Hollywood (Florida), which handles radiology services for 12 hospitals and other facilities in Broward County. US Anesthesia Partners picked up another Texas-based practice, Excel Anesthesia, P.A., which it will merge into Pinnacle Anesthesia Consultants, one of its founding partners. Then Partners HealthCare System, which was spurned by the Massachusetts Attorney General in its bid for South Shore Hospital, turned around and angered the AG once again by acquiring Harbor Medical Associates in South...
