The substance use disorder (SUD) specialty is often the most active submarket in the Behavioral Health Care (BHC) sector, and the first half of 2024 was no exception. LITALICO Acquires Developmental Disability Centers of Nebraska for $50 Million 

On June 28, LITALICO Inc. announced that it acquired Disability Centers of Nebraska (DDCN) for $50 Million. LITALICO will pay $29.5 million upfront and $20.5 million in an earn-out over three years.  DDCN is a Medicaid-certified disability services provider based out of Omaha, Nebraska. It provides care for persons with disabilities and/or behavioral disorders. It was founded in 2015 and has 17 group homes in Nebraska.  LITALICO is one of Japan’s largest intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) providers. Shannon Medical Center Acquires River Crest Hospital 

On June 8, Shannon Medical Center announced that it entered into an agreement to acquire River Crest Hospital, an 80-bed medical center focused on behavioral health and based in San Angelo, Texas. The seller was Universal Health Services, Inc.  Shannon Medical Center, also located in San Angelo, Texas, is a medical center offering comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages. It is part Shannon Health System. Pathways Recovery Centers Adds Serenity Park Recovery Center

Pathways Recovery Centers has announced the addition of Serenity Park Recovery Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, to its growing roster of mental health and addiction treatment programs. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 1972, Serenity Park Recovery Center offers addiction recovery in Arkansas. Previously known as Serenity House, the facility was one of the first in Arkansas to offer a gender-specific program for women. It moved to its current location in Little Rock in 1990, and was acquired by businesswoman Tara Tinnin in 2018. On May 22, Click Therapeutics, Inc. announced that it had acquired assets of Better Therapeutics, Inc.  Better Therapeutics is a first-in-class prescription digital therapeutic developed to deliver behavioral therapy to patients.
