Unlike many other healthcare sectors experiencing a decline in M&A deal volume, the Behavioral Health Care (BHC) market has seen a plethora of deal activity in 2025. According to data captured in the LevinPro HC, there have been 74 BHC transactions announced since the start of the year, outpacing the 73 deals announced in 2024. The deal volume of 2025 is on track to outpace the 83 deals reported in 2023 as well. However, 2022 and 2021 saw incredibly high deal volume; there were 113 deals reported in 2022 and 131 in 2021. RethinkFirst Acquires Joshin
RethinkFirst announced on August 18 that it entered into an agreement to acquire Joshin. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Joshin, an employee assistance programs (EAP) provider, is a Minnesota-based provider of disability and neurodivergent support services. RethinkFirst is a global health technology company providing cloud-based treatment tools, training and clinical support to employers, educators, payors and behavioral health professionals. Plymouth Psych Group (PPG) announced that it acquired Psychology Consultation Specialist (PCS), based in Plymouth, Minnesota. PCS is an outpatient mental health practice that was established in 2008. On July 17, it was announced that Centerstone and Brightli were merging into a company that is valued at a combined annual revenue of $1 billion. Brightli is a behavioral health care company. Brightli’s subsidiaries include Burrell Behavioral Health (and subsidiary Comprehensive Mental Health Services), Preferred Family Healthcare, Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health, Firefly Supported Living & Employment Services, Adult & Child Health and Brightli Foundation.
