Atlantic Health System (AHS), a portfolio company of Geisinger Health, announced the addition of Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine to its network.
Upon completion, AHS will have a majority ownership stake in Thompson Health’s 11 locations across New Jersey. Each location will share information using Epic’s EHR system, which AHS also uses. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Thompson Healthcare & Sports Medicine is a New Jersey-based health care and sports medicine provider, offering physician services, acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy and more. The company has more than 75 providers at 11 locations across central and southern New Jersey.
AHS is one of the largest non-profit health care systems in New Jersey with seven acute-care hospitals as well as Atlantic Rehabilitation, Atlantic Home Care and Hospice and Atlantic Medical Group.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition marks the 107th Physician Medical Groups (PMG) deal and the 11th orthopedic acquisition of the year. By comparison, there were 123 PMG, yet only five orthopedic transactions announced between January 1, 2022, and March 16, 2022.
