Olympus Corporation announced its agreement to acquire cloud-based AI endoscopy technology developer Odin Vision. The agreement totals up to $79 million in upfront and milestone-based payments.
The acquisition constitutes a strategic component of Olympus’ broader aim to transform clinical and procedural workflows. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
London-based Odin Vision develops a portfolio of commercially available computer-aided detection/diagnostic solutions. It also holds an innovation pipeline of cloud-enabled applications.
Olympus uses innovative capabilities in medical technology, therapeutic intervention and precision manufacturing to help healthcare professionals deliver diagnostic, therapeutic and minimally invasive procedures to improve clinical outcomes, reduce overall costs and enhance the quality of life for patients.
According to data captured from the LevinPro HC database, this marks the 124th Laboratories, MRI and Dialysis transaction of 2022 and the 65th in the diagnostics subsector. This compares with 119 Laboratories, MRI and Dialysis and 27 diagnostics deals recorded between January 1, 2021, and December 21, 2021.
