InterWell Health, a Waltham, Massachusetts-based kidney care provider, acquired Acumen Physician Solutions, a former division of Fresenius Medical Care North America. The addition of Acumen accelerates InterWell’s ability to support kidney care providers and their move to value-based care. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, Acumen provides electronic health record (EHR) and patient management software designed for nephrologists caring for patients with chronic kidney disease. More than 2,000 kidney care providers have implemented the Acumen Epic Connect EHR software platform that was created in partnership with Epic, the most commonly used EHR software in the United States.
The Acumen Epic Connect platform supports new value-based models of care with capabilities such as a physician rounding tool, payer integration, embedded analytics, population health management and interoperability with other providers.
InterWell Health is a national physician organization that serves renal patients, providers and payors. InterWell Health has a nephrology network of more than 1,600 physicians.
According to the LevinPro HC database, this marks the 266th eHealth deal of 2022 and the 15th transaction in the EHR subsector. This is a 16.67% decrease from the same time last year when there were 18 EHR deals announced.
