Dawson Med, an independent primary and urgent care practice based in North Carolina, acquired Batish Family Medicine, a primary care provider in Leland, expanding its footprint in the fast-growing Brunswick County market. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Beginning April 1, Dawson Med at Leland began operating from the former Batish Family Medicine location. The acquisition also included two medical office buildings tied to the practice.
The transition retained the entire Batish Family Medicine staff, according to Dawson Med co-founder and medical director Dr. Umar Bowers. The practice also added family medicine physicians Dr. Andrew Marburg and Dr. Jiyun Chang as part of the expansion.
The acquisition reflects continued demand for community-based primary care models in high-growth suburban markets such as Brunswick County, one of the fastest-growing counties in the state. This is Dawson Med’s first acquisition, according to the LevinPro HC database.
