According to a November 18 announcement, Independent Health will join MVP Health Care‘s family of companies, subject to regulatory approvals.
Independent Health is an independent, not-for-profit health plan headquartered in Buffalo, New York, providing innovative health care products and benefits designed to engage consumers in their health and well-being. The company was established in 1980.
Founded in 1983, MVP Health Care is a community-focused, not-for-profit health insurer caring for members in New York and Vermont.
Independent Health will join MVP’s family of companies, subject to regulatory approvals. By aligning strengths, MVP and Independent Health will serve nearly one million members and employ more than 3,000 people across the region with $7 billion in annual revenue.
All stakeholders in Independent Health, including members, providers, employers and partners, can expect business as usual with no immediate changes to coverage, benefits or local personalized service. Both organizations are committed to transparent communication to ensure a smooth experience.
The boards of directors of both organizations unanimously approved the transaction. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction marks the 25th Managed Care acquisition of the year. Deal totals in the sector are pretty much on par with last year’s activity, when 24 Managed Care deals were announced between January 1, 2024, and November 18, 2024. Throughout all of 2024, 27 Managed Care transactions were reported.
