On September 10, MB2 Dental Solutions announced that it acquired its 800th practice location with the purchase of The Smile Lodge.
Founded and led by Dr. James McDonnell and Dr. Eric McMahon, The Smile Lodge operates comprehensive pediatric dental facilities in Clifton Park and East Greenbush, New York. With 22 doctors, more than 200 employees and 65,000 active patients, The Smile Lodge sees approximately 1,000 new patients each month.
MB2 Dental Solutions, a portfolio company of private equity firms Charlesbank Capital Partners since February 2021 and Warburg Pincus since November 2024, partners with dentists and specialists. Founded in 2007, MB2 offers general dentistry services, orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery.
In addition to this being the 800th location for MB2 Dental, this is the company’s 11th transaction since the start of 2025, adding a total of 21 practices to its portfolio. Terms were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction represents the 333rd Physician Medical Group (PMG) acquisition of 2025, and the 171st in the dental specialty. At more than 51%, dental accounts for the largest portion of the PMG transactions in 2025. There were 242 dental transactions reported in 2024, and 180 in 2023. This also marks the seventh dental practice to be acquired in New York since the start of 2025.
