HonorHealth announced on September 3 that it has entered into an agreement with The Cigna Group to bring Evernorth Care Group‘s clinic locations into the HonorHealth family.
Evernorth Care Group operates 18 clinics in the Phoenix, Arizona MSA and provides integrated primary care services to nearly 80,000 patients.
HonorHealth is a nonprofit, local healthcare system serving an area of 1.6 million people in the Phoenix MSA. The network encompasses six acute-care hospitals, an extensive medical group, outpatient surgery centers, a cancer care network, clinical research, medical education, a foundation and community services. It has approximately 13,700 team members, 3,700 affiliated providers and nearly 800 volunteers.
“Our clinicians have cared for generations of Arizonans, and we’re proud to continue our commitment to quality care as we join HonorHealth,” Matt Totterdale, President of Evernorth Care Group, said. “We’re confident that HonorHealth is the right partner to continue our legacy and enhance care delivery for patients.”
The clinics will join HonorHealth upon close of the transaction, which is expected to occur in January 2026, pending legal and regulatory approvals. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction represents the 35th health clinic acquisition of the year. There were 49 health clinic acquisition announcements in 2024, and 39 in 2023.
Additionally, this marks HonorHealth’s first acquisition since 2024 when the company acquired three Steward Health Care hospitals in Arizona: Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital in Tempe and Florence Hospital in Florence.
