ReFocus Eye Health, based in Waterbury, Connecticut, announced on August 1 that it was expanding its presence in Virginia with the acquisition of The Eye Center.
The Eye Center is an ophthalmology and refractive surgery practice offering iLASIK, EVO Visian Implantable Collamer Lens and advanced treatments such as CustomVue and iDESIGN-2.0. It is based in Sterling, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. According to its website, there are 12 physicians on staff.
ReFocus Eye Health, a portfolio company of investment firm Zenyth Partners, is an eye care management services organization supporting a leading network of comprehensive ophthalmology and retina practices. The ReFocus Eye Health affiliate network includes more than 150 providers and more than 80 locations across eight states.
This marks ReFocus Eye Health’s third acquisition of 2025. The financial terms were not disclosed. Throughout 2024, ReFocus Eye Health acquired nine eye care practices across Virginia, New Jersey and New York.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction represents the 276th Physician Medical Group acquisition of 2025 and the 15th in the eye care specialty. Throughout 2024, there were 26 eye care transactions reported. This also marks the first eye care practice to be purchased in Virginia for the year.
