Mercedes Scientific kicked off April 2025 by announcing its acquisition of Bell Medical Services in Marlboro Township, New Jersey.
Bell Medical Services is a second-generation family-owned company that provides medical and pharmaceutical products to healthcare professionals, primarily serving physician offices and healthcare providers in the Northeast. The company was founded in 1972.
Founded in 1991, Mercedes Scientific is a family-owned importer and distributor of laboratory products and medical supplies. The company is based in Lakewood Ranch, Florida and has been serving laboratories for more than 34 years.
The merger expands Mercedes Scientific’s distribution footprint to three centers in Florida, Utah and New Jersey, which will enable the companies to better serve customers across the United States. By streamlining operations and improving logistics, the combined entity is positioned to enhance its service in critical areas of the healthcare and laboratory sectors. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this marks the ninth transaction in the healthcare product distributor subsector this year. Other acquirers in the specialty this year include Universal Marine Medical Supply International, DHL Group, Richards Packaging Income Fund, Henry Schein, Asker Healthcare Group, Bridgefield Capital and Olympus Latin America. There were 30 healthcare product distributor transactions announced in 2024, 38 announced in 2023 and 31 announced in 2022.
