On March 12, Physician Growth Partners (PGP) announced that it advised Charlotte Dermatology in its acquisition by DOCS Dermatology Group. PGP served as the exclusive advisor to Charlotte Dermatology in its evaluation, negotiation and execution of this partnership. 

Founded in 1939, Charlotte Dermatology is a dermatology practice with eight locations in the Charlotte, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina areas. According to its website, the practice has a team of three providers and 15 physician assistants. 

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, DOCS Dermatology Group has developed into one of the largest dermatology management platforms in the United States with more than 80 clinics and more than 1,300 employees. It was founded in 1978. The company’s board-certified dermatologists, surgeons, nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide comprehensive patient care covering general dermatology, surgical, pathology and cosmetic services. DOCS Dermatology has been backed by private equity firm SkyKnight Capital since June 2022. 

Through its partnership with DOCS Dermatology Group, Charlotte Dermatology aims to strengthen its operational infrastructure, expand its service offerings, broaden its geographic reach and further solidify its market leadership. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this marks the 84th Physician Medical Group acquisition of 2025, and the sixth in the dermatology specialty. Throughout the entirety of 2024, there were 23 dermatology transactions reported. In 2024, Epiphany Dermatology completed eight transactions.
