Epiphany Dermatology, based out of Austin, Texas, announced on December 9 that it acquired the Center for Dermatology. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2006, Center for Dermatology provides dermatologic care and cosmetic services to patients in Lakeville, Minnesota, and surrounding communities. According to its website, the practice has one provider (Dr. Robert Zabel, DO) and one physician assistant (Sheila Cavallaro, PA-C) on staff.
Through its partnerships with dermatologists in more than 95 locations in 15 states, Epiphany Dermatology provides general dermatology, skin cancer care, Mohs surgery, cosmetic services and additional dermatologic services. It is a portfolio company of New York City-based private equity firm CI Capital Partners.
Through this partnership, Center for Dermatology’s providers and staff gain additional resources to help with operations, managed care, marketing, compliance, human resources, clinical training, recruiting, IT and many other support services. Epiphany also benefits from the clinical expertise of Center for Dermatology’s team, as best practices are collaboratively shared across the Epiphany network.
According to data in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction marks the 451st Physician Medical Group acquisition of 2024, and the 21st in the dermatology specialty. In 2023, there were 29 dermatology transactions reported.
This is also Epiphany Dermatology’s seventh acquisition of 2024. Previously in the year, the company purchased dermatology practices in Missouri, Washington, Texas, South Carolina and Georgia, expanding its network by eight providers.
