Hospice of the Western Reserve announced that it has completed its affiliation with Hospice of North Central Ohio (HNCO), expanding its geographic presence in Ohio.
Headquartered in Ashland, Ohio, HNCO is a non-profit, community-oriented organization serving the Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Morrow, Richland and Wayne counties.
Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Hospice of the Western Reserve provides palliative end-of-life care, caregiver support and bereavement services throughout Northern Ohio. The organization is a subsidiary of Western Reserve Care Solutions (WRCS), a nonprofit community-based agency focused on supporting individuals with advanced chronic disease and terminal illness. WRCS was formed in 2018 as the parent company of Hospice of the Western Reserve and its related subsidiaries.
The two hospice providers announced the affiliation in February 2024 after signing a letter of intent to enter a management services agreement. With the finalized agreement announced August 1, 2024, HNCO is now part of Hospice of the Western Reserve. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 55th Home Health & Hospice deal of 2024, as well as the 11th deal in the home hospice and palliative care specialty. This is a significant increase over last year, when there were six transactions announced in the home hospice and palliative care specialty between January 1, 2023, and August 1, 2023.
