OneOncology, a portfolio company of TPG Capital and AmerisourceBergen, announced that it entered into an agreement to acquire Lowcountry Oncology Associates.
Founded in 2001, Lowcountry Oncology Associates is an oncology practice with four locations in South Carolina. According to its website, the practice has six providers on staff.
OneOncology is a national network of independent community oncologists who assist partner practices in expanding their cancer care services. The company’s 1,000 cancer care providers care for approximately 615,000 patients at more than 339 sites nationwide. In April 2023, OneOncology was acquired by TPG Capital and AmerisourceBergen from General Atlantic.
“Our partnership with Lowcountry Oncology Associates will enhance high-quality and more affordable cancer care in Charleston,” said Jeff Patton, MD, CEO of OneOncology in the press release. “We look forward to helping Lowcountry grow and enhance cancer care in Charleston, which will also bring additional value to payers and employers throughout South Carolina.”
According to the original press release, Lowcountry Oncology Associates is the third South Carolina oncology practice and 24th nationally to join the OneOncology platform. The financial terms were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 274th Physician Medical Group transaction of the year, and the 15th in the oncology specialty. This is also OneOncology’s fifth acquisition of 2024; previously, the company acquired practices in Alabama, North Carolina, Connecticut and an additional practice in South Carolina, adding 38 physicians to its network.
