Legacy Hospice, backed by the Chicago-based private equity firm Prairie Capital, announced this week its acquisition of HomeCare Hospice, marking its first deal announcement of 2024.
HomeCare Hospice is a leading provider of hospice and palliative care services throughout the state of Mississippi. The company operates four locations across the state.
Legacy Hospice was established to provide home care for terminally ill patients. The company’s team of nurses, aides, social workers and chaplains work together with the caregiver and patient to develop a patient-centered plan of care that provides symptom management, emotional and spiritual support.
The deal expands Legacy’s footprint in the southern United States. This is Legacy’s second deal announcement in a little more than a year. In March 2023, the company purchased Safe Harbor Hospice in southeastern Missouri for an undisclosed price. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 25th Home Health & Hospice deal of 2024, as well as the fifth deal in the home hospice and palliative care specialty. This is a significant increase over last year, when there was just one transaction announced in the home hospice and palliative care specialty between January 1, 2023, and April 19, 2023.
