Mountainside Medical Center kicked off April 2024 with the successful acquisition of behavioral health providers from Envision Healthcare. The providers will join Mountainside Medical Center’s employed physician enterprise, Mountainside Medical Group.
The acquired assets include the behavioral health assets and providers of Envision Healthcare, a Nashville, Tennessee-based healthcare company and national hospital-based physician group.
Mountainside Medical Center is a patient-focused, community-oriented acute care hospital in Montclair, New Jersey. The behavioral health team at Mountainside Medical Center provides a wide range of comprehensive services, including inpatient and outpatient care, counseling, psychiatry and treatments for various conditions such as eating disorders, bipolar disorder, addiction and more. Additionally, the hospital offers 24/7 access to emergency psychiatric services and specialized care for geriatric patients.
Jonathan Hertz, M.D., will continue to serve as the medical director of the Behavioral Health Services business. This acquisition follows a November 2023 announcement that Envision Healthcare had emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring and reduced its debt by more than 70%. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 18th Behavioral Health Care (BHC) transaction of 2024. There were 84 BHC transactions announced during 2023, and 113 announced during 2022.
