Trinity Health Michigan has entered into an agreement to acquire West Michigan Rheumatology, a three-provider practice.
Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, West Michigan Rheumatology has provided care to patients suffering from a variety of rheumatological conditions throughout West Michigan for more than 25 years. The clinical team collaborates closely with other specialists such as physical therapists, occupational therapists and nutritionists to provide a holistic treatment plan for patients.
Trinity Health Michigan, also called Trinity Health Medical Group, is one of the largest not-for-profit, Catholic health care systems in the nation. With more than 24,000 full-time employees serving 29 counties, Trinity Health Michigan operates nine hospitals located in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, Howell, Livonia, Muskegon, Pontiac and Shelby and two medical groups.
The health system has 2,314 beds and more than 5,445 physicians and advanced practice providers. With operating revenues of $4.16 billion, Trinity Health Michigan returns $184 million back to local communities each year.
Going forward, the Grand Rapids practice will be called Trinity Health Medical Group, Rheumatology. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition marks the 127th Physician Medical Group transaction of 2024 and the ninth in the internal medicine specialty. This is Trinity Health Michigan’s first acquisition since 2022 when it purchased North Ottawa Community Health System, an acute care hospital in Grand Haven, Michigan.
