Karl Storz announced on January 10 the acquisition of Innersight Labs, headquartered in London.
Innersight Labs is a British company founded in 2015. The company developed Innersight3D, a software-only product that allows surgeons to create a patient-specific 3D model from a medical CT or MRI scan. ISL labels the received scans according to different tissue types and creates an interactive 3D model that can be accessed and interacted with via a web link sent to the physician.
Karl Storz is a German medical device company that manufactures and sells endoscopes and surgical instruments. It was founded in Tuttlingen, Germany by Dr. Karl Storz in 1945. The company is privately owned; Dr. Storz’ daughter, Sybill, took over running the company after his death in 1996.
As part of the globally active Karl Storz Group, Innersight Labs will now focus on commercial scaling and joint technology development. Karl Storz’s customer base of physicians can now look forward to 3D models created from medical scans, making surgery considerably easier and even more successful. The know-how gained with the acquisition in the field of artificial intelligence will greatly enhance the Karl Storz portfolio. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction marks the eighth Laboratories, MRI and Dialysis acquisition of 2024. During 2023, there were 125 deals announced in the sector.
