Carl Larson Cancer Center has joined Vandalia Health to provide a greater procedure capacity and expand available services to the community. The center will be renamed CAMC Cancer Center-Beckley.
Carl Larson Cancer Center offers cancer care services from one location in Beckley, West Virginia. It provides oncology, hematology, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, diagnostic laboratory and diagnostic imaging services. The center was created in 1986 and features three physicians, 11 advanced practice professionals and support staff, according to its website.
Vandalia Health System was formed through the merger of Charleston Area Medical Center Health System and Mon Health System in August 2022. Vandalia has 10 hospitals with almost 1,400 beds and more than 180 locations, reaching into Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. It’s the second-largest employer in West Virginia with nearly 12,000 employees.
Vandalia Health has received all necessary regulatory and governance approvals, with the transaction to purchase the center finalized in December 2023. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this represents the second Physician Medical Group (PMG) transaction of 2024, as well as the first oncology deal. There were 516 PMG deals announced during 2023, including 17 in the oncology specialty.
