Corewell Health announced on November 1 that it partnered with Great Lakes Gastroenterology, a gastroenterology practice in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Corewell Health is a not-for-profit health system that provides health care and coverage with a team of more than 60,000 employees. The company has a team of more than 11,500 physicians and advanced practice providers; more than 15,000 nurses providing care and services in 22 hospitals; more than 300 outpatient locations and several post-acute facilities. It is also is partnered with Priority Health, a provider-sponsored health plan serving more than 1.3 million members.
Upon completion of the transaction, Great Lakes Gastroenterology will be renamed Corewell Health Lakeland Hospitals Gastroenterology. The financial terms were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction is the 447th Physician Medical Groups acquisition of the year, and the 17th in the gastroenterology specialty. This is a 26% decrease from the previous year when 23 gastroenterology acquisitions were announced between January 1, 2022, and November 1, 2022.
