Varian Medical Systems has announced its acquisition of Aspekt Solutions, a Greenbelt, Maryland-based provider of medical physics, dosimetry and strategy consultation services.
Aspekt Solutions offers radiology and radiation oncology providers the staff, guidance, technical and operational expertise they need to turn a high-risk, high-capital business into a competitive advantage.
Varian Medical Systems is a radiation oncology treatments and software maker based in Palo Alto, California. The company’s medical devices include linear accelerators and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions with radiotherapy, radiosurgery, proton therapy and brachytherapy.
The acquisition of Aspekt Solutions will expand Varian’s advanced oncology solutions offerings and increase the ability to address the rising demand for customized services and standardized care delivery. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction represents the second medical physics acquisition of the year. Another acquirer in the space has been West Physics Consulting, which acquired Enterprise Physics in February for an undisclosed price.
