CordenPharma has acquired AmbioPharm, a global custom synthetic peptide contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) founded in 2005 and headquartered in North Augusta, South Carolina. AmbioPharm shareholders are reinvesting in the combined business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AmbioPharm specializes in developing manufacturing processes for peptide-based Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) at clinical and commercial stages. From its manufacturing facilities in South Carolina and Shanghai, China, AmbioPharm manufactures new chemical entities under cGMP for clients worldwide.

CordenPharma is a leading global CDMO supporting biotech and pharma innovators of complex modalities in the advancement of their drug development lifecycle. CordenPharma provides bespoke outsourcing services spanning the complete supply chain, from early clinical-phase development to commercialization. The CordenPharma Group is currently comprised of 11 facilities across Europe and North America. In May 2022, CordenPharma was acquired by Astorg to accelerate its development and further strengthen its capabilities in the CDMO space.

With the acquisition, CordenPharma broadens its peptide API development and manufacturing capabilities for complex peptide programs. The transaction expands CordenPharma’s upstream and downstream peptide manufacturing footprint by adding further capacity for U.S.-based peptide API supply and bringing Shanghai-based production options into its network for global customers. BNP Paribas acted as exclusive financial advisor to AmbioPharm.

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction represents the 42nd Life Sciences R&D acquisition of the year, as well as the 17th in the CDMO subsector. There were 84 Life Sciences R&D deals announced in 2025, including 42 CDMO deals. In 2024, there were 92 Life Sciences R&D and 30 CDMO transactions announced.
