Monument Health has completed its acquisition of Rapid City Medical Center (RCMC), integrating the long-standing multispecialty physician practice into the regional health system effective May 1, 2026. The transaction, which follows a letter of intent signed in January 2026, brings RCMC’s outpatient services under Monument Health while maintaining continuity for patients and providers in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Rapid City Medical Center has provided multispecialty outpatient care—including primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics, rheumatology, ENT, podiatry, pain medicine and urgent care—for decades. Services will continue at existing locations: the Mt. Rushmore Road Clinic, South Clinic and West River ENT, with infusion services now coordinated through Monument Health facilities. Patients will see the same providers with access to the broader resources of Monument Health’s integrated network.
The deal enhances Monument Health’s footprint in Rapid City as a five-hospital system with 40 medical clinics serving 14 communities across western South Dakota and eastern Wyoming. Both organizations emphasized continued physician leadership and locally rooted decision-making in the Black Hills. RCMC will operate under the Monument Health umbrella while preserving its established brand and care model in the near term.
