Summit Spine & Joint Centers, backed by private equity firm Wellspring Capital Management, announced on January 20 that it acquired Savannah Pain Management and Savannah Pain Center. 

Run by Dr. Keith A. Kirby, MD., Savannah Pain Management and Savannah Pain Center operate as one pain management center with one location in Savannah, Georgia. It also operates one outpatient surgery center.  

Summit Spine & Joint Centers is a management services organization that provides administrative and support services to its network of clinics and ambulatory surgery centers across the Southeast. It became a portfolio company of Wellspring Capital Management in 2025. 

This is the second acquisition for Summit Spine & Joint Centers in the past two years; in 2024, the company purchased Integrated Pain Solutions, a pain management practice with 11 locations in North Carolina. Summit now has 49 locations across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee. Terms were not disclosed. 

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction represents the 32nd Physician Medical Group acquisition of 2026, and the second in the pain management specialty. There were nine pain management transactions reported in 2025, and seven in 2024.
