Premier, Inc. has announced the acquisition of IllumiCare, a healthcare technology firm known for its electronic medical record (EMR)-agnostic platform.

IllumiCare offers a suite of applications that deliver real-time, patient-specific data to clinicians to assist in decision-making and operational tasks in healthcare settings. Already used by more than 82,000 providers, including independent physicians and ambulatory networks, the IllumiCare platform is compatible with more than 50 EMR systems used across the care continuum. It was founded in 2014 and is based in Vestavia, Alabama.

Premier is a technology-driven healthcare improvement company that provides solutions to two-thirds of all healthcare providers in the United States. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Premier offers integrated data and analytics, collaborative solutions, supply chain solutions, consulting and other services.

The acquisition significantly expands Premier’s reach in the clinical decision support space. Premier will begin marketing the acquired solution under Premier’s Stanson Health brand this summer. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

According to data in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction represents the 161st eHealth acquisition of 2025, and the third in the EMR subsector. Other deals in the EMR space this year have been Performant Capital’s April investment in EyeMD EMR Healthcare Systems, and Aranscia’s May acquisition of Spesana. There were two EMR deals announced during 2024, and nine announced during 2023.
