EyeSouth Partners, a portfolio company of private equity firm Olympus Partners as of 2022, announced that it acquired Retina Institute of Illinois.
Retina Institute of Illinois is an eye care practice with nine locations in Illinois (Niles, Crystal Lake, Hoffman Estates, Chicago, Gurnee, Huntley, Lombard, Oak Park and Elgin). According to its website, there are 10 physicians on staff.
EyeSouth Partners, is an eye care services organization in the Southeast. EyeSouth’s affiliate network consists of 38 practices with more than 300 doctors providing medical and surgical eye care services at more than 180 locations including 20 surgery centers throughout Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina and New York. EyeSouth supports its affiliated practices and physician partners with strategic guidance, administrative resources, operating expertise and capital.
This marks EyeSouth Partners’ third affiliation in Illinois and 42nd affiliation overall. This also marks EyeSouth Partners’ first acquisition of 2025. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this marks the 91st Physician Medical Group acquisition of 2025, and the seventh in the eye care specialty. There were 24 eye care transactions announced in 2024, and 47 announced in 2023.
