Amsterdam, New York-based St. Mary’s Healthcare announced that it entered into an agreement to acquire Neena Rao Family Health Center.
Neena Rao Family Health Center is a primary care practice with one location in Amsterdam, New York. According to its website, there are two physicians on staff: Dr. Govind C. Roa and Robert Bielawa.
St. Mary’s Healthcare offers a continuum of services designed to fulfill the total healthcare needs of the community, focusing on offering care at the lowest cost. In addition to its 143-bed hospital, a 160-bed nursing home and a 10-bed acute rehabilitation unit, St. Mary’s provides highly accessible healthcare through its seven offsite primary care centers and behavioral health service locations throughout two counties.
This partnership is an example of St. Mary’s strategy to forge alliances with local providers to enable the rural community hospital to continue to grow while remaining independent. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this marks the 18th Physician Medical Group acquisition of 2025, and the first in the internal medicine specialty. Throughout 2024, there were 30 internal medicine transactions.
