Dallas, Texas-based Elara Caring announced that it has acquired Caregivers Home Health in a transaction that allows Elara Caring to enter the Iowa market and expand its footprint in Kansas.

Founded in 2004, Caregivers Home Health is a privately-owned home health agency that operates in Kansas and Iowa. The company has locations in Topeka and Garden City, Kansas and Chariton and Centerville, Iowa.

Elara Caring is one of the nation’s leading providers of home-based care, offering skilled home health, hospice, personal care services, behavioral health and palliative care. With a footprint in 17 states in the Northeast, Midwest and Southwest, it serves more than 60,000 patients and their families across 200 locations.

The deal falls in line with Elara Caring’s strategy of acquiring companies that will facilitate growth in their existing markets, and its expansion goals in the Midwest. M&A will continue to be part of Elara Caring’s growth strategy, according to Elara Caring CEO Scott Powers. The deal marks Elara Caring’s first deal of 2024. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 49th Home Health & Hospice (HH&H) deal of 2024. There were 100 HH&H deals announced during 2023, and 115 announced during 2022. This also marks Elara Caring’s third deal since April 2023, when the company acquired Rhode Island-based Assisted Daily Living. Elara Caring also acquired Huntley, Illinois-based American Family Home Health in October 2023.
