On June 18, Montecito Medical Real Estate announced its acquisition of two outpatient surgery properties in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

The adjoining buildings, which offer a combined total of 37,200 square feet, are 100% occupied by Atrium Health. Atrium Health, headquartered in Charlotte, is an integrated, nonprofit health system with more than 65,000 employees serving patients at 40 hospitals and 1,400 care locations. 

Montecito Medical Real Estate specializes in healthcare-related real estate acquisitions and funding. Since 2006, it has completed transactions across the United States involving more than $5 billion in medical real estate. It is based in Nashville, Tennessee.  

The acquisition of the two properties expands Montecito’s footprint in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.  

“We continue to be drawn to the attractive fundamentals of the Charlotte area,” said Chip Conk, CEO of Montecito Medical. “We are very pleased to expand our growing footprint in this market and across the Carolinas.” Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition is the first surgical center transaction of the year. This is also Montecito’s 11th acquisition of 2024. It has acquired 23 facilities in North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, Utah, New York, Florida, Minnesota, Illinois and Virginia. The facilities total more than 439,100 square feet.
