Needham, Massachusetts-based knownwell announced on June 20 the acquisition of Alfie Health.
Alfie Health is an online precision medical and obesity management clinic that uses artificial intelligence to generate evidence-based recommendations for weight management. Alfie’s AI-powered ObesityRx™ technology analyzes patient medical history to determine the most effective treatment strategies for sustainable metabolic health improvements, leveraging a data-driven approach to balance cost and improve outcomes.
knownwell is an in-person and virtual, weight-inclusive primary care and metabolic health company. knownwell practices evidence-based medicine that supports a patient’s unique goals, creating a healthcare home for patients dealing with overweight and obesity.
This acquisition follows knownwell’s raising a $20 million Series A led by Andreesen Horowitz, with participation from Flare Capital Partners, the series seed lead. Accompanying this acquisition is the appointment of the first C-suite hires since the company was founded in 2022, Chief Operating Officer, James Chaukos and Chief Growth Officer, John Frager. They will join the existing executive leadership team of Brooke Boyarsky Pratt, Founder and CEO, and Dr. Angela Fitch, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer. Through this acquisition, knownwell will integrate Alfie’s ObesityRx™ platform into its current care model. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 114th eHealth transaction of 2024, and the 21st in the telehealth specialty. This is a slight decline from last year, when there were 140 eHealth and 27 telehealth transactions announced between January 1, 2023, and June 20, 2023.
