SGMC Health ended May 2024 by announcing the expansion of its SGMC Physician Network via the acquisition of the Urology Clinic of Valdosta (UCV). According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 216th Physician Medical Group transaction of 2024, and the third in the urology specialty.

UCV was founded in 1989 to provide patients with urological health care in Valdosta, Georgia and the surrounding counties. According to its website, the company has two providers on staff.

Opening as Pineview Hospital in 1955 and known as South Georgia Medical Center since 1971, SGMC Health is a not-for-profit comprehensive health system serving South Georgia and North Florida. SGMC Health operates four hospitals across Lowndes, Berrien and Lanier counties. The system also operates ambulance services, dozens of medical offices, a cancer center, a hospice facility, a retirement center, a skilled nursing facility, imaging centers and urgent care.

Following the acquisition, UCV will operate under its new name, SGMC Urology, and remain at its current location in Valdosta, Georgia. Additionally, SGMC Urology will welcome urologist John Losee, MD, to the team in June. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
