EyeSouth Partners, a portfolio company of Olympus Partners as of 2022, has affiliated with Community Eye Care Specialists (CECS). The addition of CECS will complement EyeSouth’s existing presence in the Western Pennsylvania market.

CECS is a comprehensive ophthalmology provider in the Northern Pennsylvania and Southwestern New York markets focused on providing high-quality subspecialty care across its five clinics and ambulatory surgery center. According to its website, CECS has six providers on staff.

EyeSouth Partners is an eye care services organization in the Southeast. EyeSouth’s affiliate network consists of 38 practices with more than 300 doctors providing medical and surgical eye care services at more than 180 locations including 20 surgery centers throughout Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina and New York. EyeSouth supports its affiliated practices and physician partners with strategic guidance, administrative resources, operating expertise and capital.

Provident Healthcare Partners, LLC advised CECS in its affiliation with EyeSouth Partners. Husch Blackwell LLP served as legal counsel to CECS, and DLA Piper LLP and Bass, Berry & Sims served as legal counsel to EyeSouth. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 155th Physician Medical Group (PMG) transaction of 2024, and the 13th in the eye care specialty. This is a slight decline from last year, when there were 176 PMG and 19 eye care deals announced between January 1, 2023, and April 18, 2023.
