Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc. announced on March 28 that it has recently completed the acquisitions of three comprehensive treatment centers (CTC) in North Carolina. The CTCs are located in Raleigh, Greenville and Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Acadia is a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services across the United States. As of December 31, 2023, Acadia operated a network of 253 behavioral healthcare facilities with approximately 11,200 beds in 38 states and Puerto Rico. With more than 20,000 employees serving approximately 70,000 patients daily, Acadia is the largest stand-alone behavioral health company in the United States. According to its FY 2023 financial report, Acadia had annual revenue of $2.93 billion during FY 2023.
The three acquired CTC locations will be rebranded as Raleigh Comprehensive Treatment, Greenville Comprehensive Treatment Center and Hillsborough Comprehensive Treatment Center, respectively. With these additions, Acadia now operates 10 CTC locations in North Carolina and 160 locations in 32 states across the country. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 15th Behavioral Health Care (BHC) transaction of 2024. There were 83 BHC transactions announced during 2023, and 113 announced during 2022. Additionally, this marks Acadia’s fourth transaction since the start of 2022. The company has recently purchased Tennessee-based CenterPointe Behavioral Health System, four CTCs from Brand New Start Treatment Centers and Turning Point Centers in Utah.
