Louisville, Kentucky-based Norton Healthcare announced the acquisition of Bowling Green Internal Medicine & Pediatric Associates (BGIMP). 

BGIMP is a medical practice in Bowling Green, Kentucky which specializes in the care of infants, children and adolescents. According to its website, the practice has nine providers on staff. 

Norton Healthcare serves adult and pediatric patients from throughout Greater Louisville, Southern Indiana, Kentucky and beyond. The not-for-profit hospital and health care system is Louisville’s second-largest employer, with more than 20,000 employees, more than 1,750 employed medical providers and more than 3,000 total physicians on its medical staff. Norton Healthcare comprises five Louisville-based hospitals; three hospitals in Southern Indiana; one hospital under construction in West Louisville, which is expected to open in late 2024; and multiple care centers, clinics and programs. 

All nine providers of BGIMP will stay onboard with potential full-time or-part time specialist enhancements. Any expansions or added personnel to BGIMP’s facility will depend on demand, according to Steve Hester, MD, senior vice president and chief clinical and strategy officer at Norton Healthcare. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition marks the 69th Physician Medical Group (PMG) transaction of the year, and the fourth in the internal medicine specialty. There were 535 PMG and 46 internal medicine deals announced during 2023.
