Clearwater, Florida-based BayCare Health System has announced that it is acquiring Gessler Clinic, a physician-owned medical group, effective December 2, 2023. Gessler Clinic is based in Winter Haven, Florida. The clinic has 49 physicians covering 24 specialties, according to its website.
BayCare Health is a not-for-profit healthcare system that operates 16 hospitals and hundreds of outpatient locations throughout the Tampa Bay and central Florida regions.
Most of the Gessler Clinic providers and team members will join BayCare, including BayCare Medical Group, Tampa Bay’s leading multi-specialty group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition represents the 35th health clinic transaction of the year. This is a 46% increase over last year when 24 health clinic acquisitions were announced between January 1, 2022, and November 22, 2022. Health clinics is the third most active subsector in the Other Services category, behind medical office buildings with 178 deals, and clinical trials and contract research organizations each with 37 deals.
