Salt Lake City, Utah-based Health Catalyst announced that it has acquired Electronic Registry Systems (ERS) in Cincinnati, Ohio.

ERS has been providing cancer registry compliance and informatics services since 1989 and is widely recognized for its flagship platform solution, CRStar. Specifically designed for Certified Tumor Registrars, the CRStar platform records and reports vital cancer patient information to oncology registries.

Health Catalyst is a data warehousing, analytics and outcomes-improvement company that helps healthcare organizations of all sizes perform the clinical, financial and operational reporting and analysis needed for population health and accountable care.

The addition of ERS’ CRStar strengthens Health Catalyst’s comprehensive data abstraction and registry management capabilities, as well as enhances its tech-enabled managed services offering within the chart abstraction domain. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to data captured from the LevinPro HC database, this transaction marks the 241st eHealth acquisition of 2023, and the 43rd in the medical practice management software specialty. This also marks Health Catalyst’s first healthcare transaction of the year. In February 2022, the company acquired KPI Ninja, a Lincoln, Nebraska-based provider of interoperability solutions and population health analytics, for an undisclosed price.
