EyeSouth Partners announced on September 5 that it partnered with Retina and Vitreous of Texas, one of Houston’s leading retina-only practices.
The affiliation represents EyeSouth’s thirty-eighth overall and the network’s first retina-only affiliation in the state of Texas. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Retina and Vitreous of Texas has served the greater Houston market for more than 25 years, been involved in upwards of 180 medical publications and developed a nationally-renowned fellowship program that was originally established in 1997. According to its website, the practice is led by a team of six board-certified, fellowship-trained physicians.
EyeSouth Partners, a portfolio company of Olympus Partners as of 2022, is an eye care services organization in the Southeast. EyeSouth’s affiliate network consists of 38 practices with more than 300 doctors providing eye care services at more than 180 locations including 19 surgery centers throughout 12 states. EyeSouth supports its affiliated practices and physician partners with strategic guidance, administrative resources, operating expertise and capital.
According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this acquisition marks the 372nd Physician Medical Groups transaction of 2023, and the 32nd in the eye care specialty. Private equity firms and/or their portfolio companies represent 63% of the buyers in the eye care specialty in 2023.
