New Story, a provider of special and alternative education and therapeutic services, announced its acquisition of the Virginia assets of the Center for Autism & Related Disorder (CARD) for an undisclosed amount.

The Virginia assets include three school campuses and nine applied behavior analysis therapy clinics. CARD is one of the world’s largest and most experienced autism treatment providers and the third largest non-governmental organization in the United States contributing to autism research.

Founded in 1997, New Story offers integrated academic and therapeutic programming to children and young adults with autism spectrum disorder, mental illness and emotional and behavioral challenges. Rivermont Schools and Your Life ABA clinics are part of the New Story network of schools, clinics and services.

CARD’s Virginia assets will operate as Rivermont Schools and Your Life ABA clinics.

According to data captured in the LevinPro HC database, this transaction is the 55th Behavioral Health Care acquisition of the year, and the seventh in the autism specialty.
